Introduction
In chapter ten of John's Gospel, Jesus is talking about the Good Shepherd and the Flock and the Good Shepherd laying down his life for his sheep. We all know that the 'Good Shepherd' in this parable is Jesus himself, but who are the Sheep?
The Sheep
When Jesus spoke this message he addressed it to the Jews. He said, "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd" (John 10:16 AV/KJV). What Jesus was saying was that he had "other sheep" who were not a part of these sheep (Jews) and that both of these groups of sheep would come together as "one fold" under on the Good Shepherd - Jesus Christ.
The "fold" is all of God's elect (Jew and Gentile). The "sheep" are the Jews, and the "other sheep" are the Gentiles. In other words, both Jew and Gentile are united together in one "fold" (as the elect) under the Good Shepherd.
It is this "fold" that Jesus laying his life down for (v15).
Conclusion
This fold who are the elect, the believers, the Saints, are holy men, women and children from all nations (Jew and Gentile) and tongues (Languages).
They are the people of God.
